Max Steinberg הי״ד was born and raised in Los Angeles. He came to Israel with his brother and sister on a Birthright trip and was inspired by the land and it's people and their rightful cause to be in Eretz Yisrael.  He volunteered to serve in the Israel Defense Forces as a Lone Soldier and became a sharpshooter in the elite Golani Brigade. He helped defend the State of Israel and fell in action in Gaza in Operation Protective Edge. He showed selfless love for his people and merited having 30,000 people attend his funeral.  Though he was a lone soldier, without immediate family in Israel, the entire nation of Israel became his family with overwhelming love and appreciation for Max expressed to his parents and siblings during their mourning and shiva moments in Jerusalem.
